The Philippine Social Security System (SSS) offers a short-term loan called the SSS Salary Loan to its members who need immediate cash. But who can qualify for this type of loan? According to the SSS website (www.sss.gov.ph), there are five key requirements that any member must meet in order to be eligible for a salary loan.
1. Regularly Contributing Members
The first requirement is that the member must be an employed, self-employed, or voluntary member (SE/VM) who has been regularly contributing to the SSS for at least 12 months prior to the month of filing the loan application. For a one-month loan, the member-borrower must have 36 posted monthly contributions, while for a two-month loan, the member-borrower must have 72 posted monthly contributions.
2. Updated Employer Contributions and Loan Remittances
If the member-borrower is employed, their employer must be updated in contributions and loan remittances. This means that the employer must have paid the required contributions and remitted loan payments to the SSS on time.
3. No Delinquent Loans
The member-borrower must also be up-to-date on the payment of any other SSS loans, including educational, stock investment, MADE, and housing loans granted under the Unified Housing Loan program (UHLP) or directly from the SSS.
4. No Final Benefits
The member-borrower must not have been granted any final benefits due to total permanent disability, retirement, or death.
5. No Fraudulent Activities
Finally, the member-borrower must not have been disqualified due to fraud committed against the SSS.
It is important to note that these guidelines are based on the official SSS website and serve as the basic requirements for members who wish to apply for an SSS Salary Loan.
The SSS Salary Loan is a convenient and accessible option for SSS members who need quick cash. However, it is important to meet the aforementioned requirements in order to qualify for the loan. If you meet these requirements, you can easily apply for an SSS Salary Loan and obtain the funds you need to address any immediate financial needs.
